Every single birth that I document is special. I spend weeks in anticipation for them, anxious every single time the phone rings. The last few weeks of this birth I was so excited I could hardly stand myself. I am sure I was on everyone's nerves, but this was the birth of my brand new nephew, so I was entitled to be a little bit annoying, right?
Karisa is Kace's mom, and Rusty's beautiful little sister. When Rusty and I met, Karisa was just a Junior in High School! I have watched her grow into a beautiful, smart and sweet young lady. Watching her become a mom was super emotional. This was by far one of the best days of my life! Karisa's labor was induced early the morning of July 1st.

For the majority of the day, it was calm and relaxed. Kace has a super awesome Dad that was a trooper through the hours of his birth. He spent most of the day feeding Karisa ice chips, and sharing baseball jabs with Rusty....

I think we had more family in the waiting room than could even fit in there. I heard there were people flooding the hall way. Kace's sweet little cousins were writing him notes, and we had lots of visitors, too!

My daughter, Addalyn, loves her Aunt Karisa to the moon and back. She thinks the sun rises and sets in her. As the day progressed, labor began getting a little rougher, and little Addalyn was not too sure about seeing her Karisa in that hospital bed with an oxygen mask. The concern on her little face says a lot about the love she has for her.

Now into the afternoon late evening, although Karisa was progressing, Kace just wouldn't seem to drop entirely. The pain was getting pretty rough, and she was certainly a tough cookie through it all.

Every time I brag on my mother in law, Rusty tells me to "stop sucking up, she already likes you." ha ha. But she really is the very best Nana in the whole world! Kace was giving his mommy a hard time, but Nana was there to help ease the pain.

After a long day and night, it was decided Kace was just not coming on his own. Karisa was relieved to head back into OR and prep for a cesarean birth. Finally, we were going to meet our little guy!
I want to brag on Three for the next shot. He noticed my shirt through the back of my scrubs, and took this shot for me. Pretty neat, right?
Kace's first moment in this world!

Kace arrived at 9:10Pm weighing 7lbs and 15oz. He was 20 inches long.

As Karisa was in recovery, Three and I took sweet Kace into the nursery so our families could have a look at this little guy we had waited all day to see!

I was obviously a bawling mess at this point, trying to hold myself together. I STILL have not made it through a birth without tears. A very sweet pediatrician asked me if she could take my photo so that I could be in one as well. I will forever be grateful to her for this priceless photo that I have! What a great moment this was, and I can't wait to tell Kace when he is older how Aunt MeMe got to watch him enter the world.
I will always remember July 1st, 2013 as one of the best days of my life. Thank you, Karisa & Three for allowing me to be part of this amazing time in your lives. I love you both!
